Our Bayport Cottage offers an open floor plan and surprisingly generous room sizes for a house under 1800 square feet. And what style - this home has all the charm of a traditional Cottage House Plan, yet also displays a definite “edge”. It is a modern interpretation of the American Craftsman architectural style. At Simply Elegant Home Designs, we don’t want to simply mimic the old houses we love - we want to transform them into modern livable designs.
Enter the home through it’s generous front porch. The entry way projects just a bit into the porch. In this way the entry zone does not interfere with the interior spaces. Once inside the Living, Dining and Kitchen areas are all open to each other, yet distinctively zoned. The positioning of the garage (well back from the front of the home) allows natural light to filter the spaces from all directions. This also provides for a smart mudroom connection with the house at the back corner.
Upstairs the 3 bedrooms (including the master suite) and the shared bath are efficiently organized around the central hall. The front 2 bedrooms have large windows facing the front yard with smaller windows on the side walls. The charm provided by the sloped ceilings remind you of this homes cottage house plan “roots”.
Foundation
The Bayport Cottage house plan comes with a full basement foundation. The basement is unfinished but indicates rough in locations for a future bathroom. The plan could easily be adapted by your local Architect or Builder to accommodate side lookout, side walkout or other lot configurations.
