Our Deephaven Modern Cottage home plan was designed by Ron Brenner of ron brenner architects in Stillwater, Minnesota. The unique home with its distinctive roof design and wrap around porch definitely makes a statement. This design was inspired by the uniquely modern interpretations of cottage house plans that the Architect Dennis Wedlick has produced.
This home plan’s exterior is characterized by its dramatic steep front facing gable with wrap around porch. Like many cottage house plans the roof springs from the top of the first floor, which helps to “ground” the massing and give it a more diminutive scale. Dormers punctuate the sides of the roof and allow natural light to filter the spaces within.
The main floor accommodates dining, kitchen and living areas within an open floor plan. A two level cabinet with bench smartly separates the dining area from the entry foyer. The stair positioned in the center of the plan provides convenient access to the three upstairs bedrooms. A bonus space above the garage provides plenty of room for an additional bedroom and flexible family space.
Foundation
The Deephaven Modern Cottage house plan comes with a full basement foundation. The basement is unfinished but indicates rough in locations for a future bathroom. The plan could easily be adapted by your local Architect or Builder to accommodate lookout, walkout or other lot configurations.
