Our Midwest Living Idea Farmhouse plan was designed by Ron Brenner of ron brenner architects in Stillwater, Minnesota. The home design; inspired by images of the traditional Simple Midwestern Farmhouse was produced as one of two “Idea Houses” sponsored by Midwest Living Magazine in 2003. This simple country home plan features a welcoming front porch, a modern open floor plan and an above garage craft room.
This home plan’s exterior is of a classic Greek revival variation of the Farmhouse style. It is characterized by its simplicity of form, elegant proportions and attention to detail. Gables, sheds and dormers dominate the Farmhouse style. A gracious front porch with delicate columns invites you inwards.
The main open floor plan accommodates dining, kitchen and living areas. A two level cabinet with bench smartly separates the dining area from the entry foyer. The stairs positioned in the center of the plan provides convenient access to the three upstairs bedrooms. A multi-purpose bonus space above the garage, which we call the “craft room,” accommodates zones for laundry, work, crafts and television viewing / game playing.
Foundation
The Midwest Living 2003 Idea Farmhouse plan comes with a full basement foundation. The basement is unfinished but indicates rough in locations for a future bathroom. The plan could easily be adapted to accommodate lookout, walkout or other lot configurations.
