Our Prescott Shingled Cottage house plan was designed by Ron Brenner of Ron Brenner Architects in Stillwater, Minnesota. This simple yet elegant home designcomfortably mixes elements from country, farmhouse and shingle style plans creating a distinctive and inviting aesthetic that might best be described as “casual elegance”.
The exterior is organized with two gable roof forms. The main gable runs from front to back of the house, and a secondary gable runs side to side. A gracious entry porch runs across the entire front facing gable, and the side gable incorporates a shed overhang that provides protection to the garage doors from the elements. Cedar shingles, cottage style window units, smart crisp detailing and the strategic use of brackets and shutters give this home all of the warmth and charm of a country cottage.
The main floor accommodates dining, kitchen and living areas within an open floor plan. A two level cabinet, complete with bench, smartly separates the dining area from the entry foyer. The staircase, positioned in the center of the plan provides convenient access to the three upstairs bedrooms. A bonus space above the garage can be used for an additional bedroom, or expanded family space.
Foundation
The Prescott Shingle Cottage house plan comes with a partial Lookout foundation. The lower floor is unfinished but indicates rough in locations for future spaces and bathroom. The plan could easily be adapted to accommodate walkout, full basement or other lot configurations.
